Insomnia
I’m gonna brew another pot of tea
The heat helps me fall asleep
And sleep don’t come easy since that day last fall
This ritual’s become important to me
I’ve been talking to these
Pictures on the wall
They’re keeping my mind racing
Making it hard to fall asleep
So I’ll smoke another bowl
I’ll drink another drink
Hopefully, that’ll be enough
To get me not to think
Willie Mac crawled out of his frame
Asked me why I’m still down
Well, I still lover her, she still left me
And you’re still underground
He told me not to worry
Everything comes to an awkward end
Earlier than anticipated
Embrace it all while you can
And brew another pot of tea
The heat will help you fall asleep
With sleep comes dreams
And with dreams come peace
Through escaping reality
But it’s after four a.m.
And I don’t take advice from ghosts
Especially since I’m still haunted
By the faces that I’ve loved the most
And the clock still stops
Until it jumps ahead
She’s still gone
I’m still lonely
Willie Mac’s still dead
And I can’t get tired
Enough to go to bed
Until the sun comes out
To chase the darkness away
